During this time of year, many of us focus on change. As we transition into 2024, many of you set goals that — with hard work, dedication and a little support from the Y — will help make a positive change in your life.
As a nearly 150-year-old organization, the Y must evolve to meet the needs of our members and our neighbors. We are dedicated to listening to your feedback and improving your experience. Because of your survey responses this year, we continue to add value to your Y membership.
- You asked for longer hours and more classes, so we extended hours and added more AM and PM classes.
- We added more custodial and maintenance staff to ensure our facilities and equipment are clean and functioning.
- We prioritized member registration and opportunities for families to connect with trivia, book clubs, BINGO, etc.
To ensure the YMCA is here for our community long-term, we must also continuously assess the organization’s finances and how the economy is impacting our bottom-line. The truth is that the cost of doing business has skyrocketed. We are impacted by inflation, and the rising cost of labor including minimum wage increases; therefore, we must modify our rates in 2024.
Our new monthly rates will be effective for all existing members on February 1, 2024:
For our Y-Starter and Y-Premium members, this is only a slight increase ($1-$3) per month. The Y Your Way membership, launched in mid-2022 with an introductory offer, is now in-line with Y and market rates. This high-value membership type continues to be an unbeatable deal for your whole family.
When we launched our new membership model in 2022, we prioritized flexibility, access, innovation, variety and value. We want you to continue to take advantage of the many amenities that give your Y membership unbeatable value, including access to Adventure Zone, nationwide membership and member discounts and early registration for in-demand programs.
Also, starting in February 2024, we will pass on the 2% surcharge for accounts drafting from credit cards. As an example: for a $96 Y-Premium membership, the surcharge is $1.92. For context, the YMCA of Metro Denver pays an estimated $500,000 annually in credit card processing fees, which was 40% of our financial assistance budget for 2023. We encourage you to update your on-file payment method in your YMCA account to ACH. Here’s how.
If you wish to make any changes to your membership (an upgrade, modification or cancellation), those changes must be made on the 25th day of the month prior to the effective change. For example: by January 25 to be effective by February 1, 2024. Changes to your membership can be made by contacting us.
