SAFEGUARDING YOUR HEALTH

The YMCA of Metro Denver is committed to safeguarding the health of our members, programs participants, staff and volunteers. As we monitor the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to keep our Y families informed and protected.

WHAT THE Y IS DOING

The Y is following guidelines from Denver Public Health, the US Centers for Disease Control and Children’s Hospital of Colorado. In addition, we are reinforcing our standard health and safety measures.

At the Y, you can expect to see staff cleaning frequently touched surfaces more often, including doorknobs, exercise equipment, phones, banisters, and handrails throughout all facilities.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

We can all do our part to prevent the spread of illness in our community. You can help us by staying home if you’re feeling sick and keeping kids home if they’re showing any symptoms of illness.

In addition, please be extra diligent in wiping down machines and equipment before and after working out. More disinfectant and supplies for cleaning will be made available.

We are also asking everyone, including staff, to follow the CDC's Prevention Recommendations:

  • Stay home if you or your family are sick or experiencing fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the restroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash

WHAT PARENTS AND FAMILIES CAN DO

YMCA staff will continue to follow all YMCA policies for health and safety. In addition, we ask you not to bring your child or children to the YMCA if they feel sick or are experiencing symptoms of illness. For more information on evaluating your child’s health, please refer to these guidelines from the Children’s Hospital of Colorado.

All Wellness Centers and Program Centers will continue regular hours. Any facility closures will be made in accordance with guidelines from the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment and Denver Public Health.

Please download the Y’s mobile app to get up-to-date facility information.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT COVID-19

According to CDC, the novel coronavirus is part of a large family of viruses common in people and many different species of animals. The virus causes a respiratory disease called COVID-19. Symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure and include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

Let’s stay safe together!
