Organizations bring fun and education to local families
Children’s Hospital Colorado (Children’s Colorado) announced a new partnership today with the YMCA of Metro Denver that will impact kids inside and outside of the hospital. The organizations will come together to champion wellness, sports safety and preventative care.
Children’s Colorado will sponsor YMCA Youth Sports Programs, as well as provide educational resources and forums, like this month’s Flex Your Family Fun celebration.
All throughout April during Flex Your Family Fun, YMCA members and community participants can sign up for activities and classes that lift up their family and community. Flex Your Family Fun aims to get families active together, focusing on different weekly themes including family fitness, sports, fun and health. Children’s Colorado is hosting four sessions focused on kids and mental health during the month, bringing the expertise of Children’s Colorado to the children and families of Denver.
Children’s Colorado is also sponsoring YMCA of Metro Denver’s Youth Sports Programs, which annually impact thousands of children ages 3 to 15 and teach the fundamentals of both sports and sportsmanship. Hundreds of individuals volunteer as coaches each session to support young athletes.
“We are grateful for partnerships like this that allow us to reinforce our mission of keeping kids healthy outside of the hospital,” said Christy Dobson, Executive Director of Corporate and Community Development at Children’s Hospital Colorado. “We appreciate that our community partners like the YMCA dedicate their programs to building a healthy spirit, mind and body for children across Metro Denver.”
“The combination of Children’s Colorado’s expertise in the health of young people coupled with the impactful wellness programs offered through the YMCA of Metro Denver will help build strong, thriving and equitable communities,” said Sue Glass, President and CEO of YMCA of Metro Denver. “Together we are focused on nurturing the potential of every child.”
This partnership also will introduce young athletes to the Sports Medicine Center at Children’s Colorado, which provides state-of-the-art treatment by pediatric experts including doctors, athletic trainers, physical therapists, dietitians and other specialists.
