We are proud to announce that Sue Glass, the President and CEO of the YMCA of Metro Denver, has been named one of Denver’s Most Admired CEOs by the Denver Business Journal (DBJ). Each year, the DBJ selects winners from a variety of industries based on their leadership, community involvement and innovations within their organization. The YMCA is thrilled to congratulate Sue on this notable achievement.
In 2018, Sue came to the YMCA of Metro Denver with a vision to innovate approaches that would empower youth, improve health and build thriving communities. The YMCA team knew that her visionary leadership style, 26 years of nonprofit leadership experience and passion for health and wellness would set her up for success at the Y. Today, three years into her tenure as CEO, she has exceeded expectations.
“When Sue sees an opportunity for innovation, she immediately pursues it,” said Meredith Marshall, CEO & Founder of UnCharted and YMCA of Metro Denver Board Member. “She is committed to transforming the perception of the Y beyond a swim and gym and she has a strong commitment to helping all team members at the Y grow personally and professionally."
Sue oversees a team of over 800, serving 68,000 individuals across six wellness centers and over 100 program sites. Her leadership has ushered in an era of transformation at the YMCA, with the modernization of facilities, the adoption of technology to improve customer experience and engagement.
Sue is known for her action-oriented approach and servant leadership style. Her resilience in spirit and dedication to the YMCA values was pivotal in leading the staff through the toughest days of the pandemic.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be considered one of Denver’s Most Admired CEOs,” said Sue. “To receive this recognition as the first woman and person of color to lead our organization shows the growth we have made in the last several years. Looking to the future, I am eager to see what we can accomplish together as we continue to transform lives and communities in metro Denver.”
Sue will be recognized among other honorees on Thursday, November 11 at the Denver Business Journal’s Most Admired CEO awards dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Denver.
Congratulations, Sue! We look forward to celebrating with you.
