American Red Cross Lifeguard Training 

Learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies with the American Red Cross lifeguard training. Our courses are designed to arm you with the skills and knowledge to prepare you for a variety of scenarios in and around the water. With our lifeguard training, you will learn how quick response times and effective preparation are vital to be a lifeguard while also understanding the crucial elements in helping to prevent drownings and injuries. The American Red Cross lifeguard training and certification are imperative to the process of getting hired on as an official Red Cross lifeguard. Our detailed training includes both testing of hands-on skills as well as comprehension on written tests. It is a Blended Learning course including 7.5 hours of online learning combined with in-person training. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years upon completion and is accepted nationwide.

Requirements:

Students must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class.
Students must pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to taking lifeguarding courses.

  • Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
  • Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.

American Red Cross

Red Cross Re-certification

American Red Cross lifeguard Re-certification includes CPR, First Aid and AED update. Must be 15 years old by the end of the class and hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.

YMCA Swim Instructor Certification

This introductory course teaches the basics of instructing aquatic classes that are student-centered, value-oriented, safe, and effective. Participants must be at least 16 years of age with strong swimming skills. Minimum prerequisites include: Current certifications in CPR/AED-PR, First Aid, and AED/Oxygen Administration. Participants must successfully complete the written test, perform all practical skills, demonstrate the ability to lead and teach swim lessons, and be fully involved in the course.
